Old School Fridays!

90s Music Classic Music RnB Vintage

You’re Makin Me High is the lead single from American Singer Toni Braxton released from her 2nd studio album Secrets with joint collaboration between Grammy Award winning producer Babyface and Bryce Wilson.
This song became Braxton’s first no.1 single on both the US Billboard Hot 100 and Hot RnB/Hip-Hop songs chart eventually going Platinum. Fun fact, the beat of the song was originally for singer Brandy but Braxton had Babyface pin lyrics to the song and the rest was history. The popularity of You’re Making Me High spawned remixes by David Morales and DJ Mad Cobra targeting the Clubs, Urban and Dancehall Markets.
The success of the song earned Braxton her 3rd Grammy Award for Best Female RnB Vocal Performance in ’97 which would later lead to another global smash hit with Un-Break My Heart. If you’re unfamiliar with “this” power ballad, you really need to check it out, pronto!
With over 70 million records sold worldwide in her career and considered one of the best-selling female RnB artists in history, it’s only right that Braxton was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2011 and honored with the Legend Award at the Soul Train Music Awards in 2017.
So here’s Toni Braxton with You’re Makin Me High on this Fridays playlist.
